 The Mathematics Team consists of 8 subject specialist teachers, led by Miss V Nelson-Parker.
The aim of the team is to challenge the stereotype of Mathematics as a monotonous and difficult subject, accessible to none but the most gifted of students.
We want to show the students at Lyndon the beauty and simplicity of number and deliver the curriculum in a captivating, thought provoking and creative way.
Lessons may commonly start with a quick game of COUNTDOWN, or a question and answer session using mini whiteboards! "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?" is sometimes used to test understanding once we have finished teaching a topic. We aim to cater for the full range of learning styles, planning lessons that incorporate activities for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners.
We have access to www.mymaths.co.uk , which is an excellent website that students can revise from if preparing for a half term assessment or if they simply want to play some maths games. Students can obtain usernames and passwords for this site from their maths teacher.
