ICT has now become a compulsory subject and is therefore taught to all students at Lyndon.
Students understand how important ICT is and how technology around them is changing very fast.
Students in Years 7and 8 access the curriculum using a Virtual Learning Environment. This means they can access the tasks set in class out of school showing parents what they are doing and how they are progressing.
The topics that are learnt help develop ICT skills from Primary School. Students do cross curricular projects to adapt their ICT skills in other subjects.
In Year 9 projects are set to develop independent learning skills so that the student can develop project management skills. They will have to plan, design, implement, test and evaluate their work.
In the GCSE ICT course students develop their own company scenario. They have to create a Website for their user. Set up a customer database to find out information and mail merge documents. Create professional documents for their company. Show how different Communication methods can be used and work out a finance model to show profit and loss. This course helps students to easily apply ICT skills to everyday life scenarios.
We are very pleased to be able to offer the IT Diploma to our students, at the Higher Level. To deliver this course we liaise closely with the other schools and colleges in the IT Diploma Consortium (Light Hall School, Grace Academy, Solihull College and The Sixth Form College) and although the majority of the teaching takes place at Lyndon, some of the study is undertaken at one of these schools or colleges.
