What is design at Lyndon?
A process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts and at Lyndon this encompasses the subject areas of Art, Design and Technology.
We teach our students the design process and the skills they need to turn designs into reality. This curriculum area also teaches problem solving, working as part of a team and ICT skills.
Facilities
In December 2008 we opened a new purpose built design block called 'The Pod' 5 new multi purpose design rooms to include IWBs and Apple Mac computers.
We also have 2 workshops which have general woodwork and metal work facilities, and jewellery and hearth equipment.
Curriculum
Key stage 3 student are taught in groups set of approximately 23. The specialisms of Art, Design and Technology are delivered as an integrated approach. Areas covered are drawing and painting, ceramics, textiles, resistant and smart materials including jewellery.
At key stage 4 we offer the following:
-GCSE Art and Design
-GCSE Innovator Suite
-O CR National qualification in Art and
As part of our commitment to offer community links and vocational elements to our course, we work closely with Jaguar Landrover and McCann Erickson to plan schemes of work that involving working directly with these organisations.
